Ora
The Ora Collection seeks to evoke the drama and intricacies of the ever-changing cliffscapes of Britain’s south coast, and the relationship between land, sea, space and time. Sharp horizons, subtle textures, dramatic ruptures and intimate inner spaces draw the viewer in closer to explore and experience the work. It is a study of borders, permanence and liminality, as viewed by, and from, the sea.
‘We have become used to arriving in places from above, in planes. But the first time I saw England was from a boat, out in the English Channel, in summer 2016 – those stark white cliffs, both beautiful and threatening, pulling you in and keeping you out. Following the coastline west, from Kent to Cornwall, the shapes and geologies of the cliffscapes change. Each piece in this collection marks a point on that voyage – a personal documentation of the meaning and quality of changing space.’
